The catches

The program is free, but "free" is doing a lot of work. It's curbside-only, so getting a sleeper sofa down two flights and out to the street is on you. It runs on the city's timeline — because demand is high, the actual pickup can take several days or longer. And there's a cap: 10 items per collection is tight for a full garage or apartment.

What LASAN won't take

Construction and renovation debris, car parts and tires, commercial waste, and cardboard aren't collected on a bulky pickup. Hazardous materials like paint, solvents, and batteries have to go to a S.A.F.E. Center instead.
